Your Swiss Lakeside Experience

Designed as a beautiful companion to our Swiss Berner Oberland Tour, this 4 Day / 3 Night Lake Geneva experiencemay be enjoyed as an extension or as a standalone journey. Whether you are continuing with us into the Alps or joining us only for these lakeside days, you will discover a very different side of Switzerland — one touched by French culture, Belle Époque beauty, vineyard slopes, mountain views, and the shimmering blue of Lac Léman.

Our home base is the tranquil lakeside town of Morges, set along the western shore of Lake Geneva with unforgettable views toward Mont Blanc. A century ago, composer Igor Stravinsky chose Morges as a place of calm, beauty, and inspiration. In keeping with that artistic legacy, our stay is in a welcoming, music-inspired boutique hotel that offers a relaxed and intimate setting just a short stroll from the lakefront. It is the kind of place that feels personal rather than grand, perfectly suited to these gentler lakeside days and beautifully positioned for exploring the region in true Hub & Spoke style.

From Morges, we will visit Lausanne, known as the Olympic Capital and home to the International Olympic Committee for more than a century. Rather than focusing on the museum, we will experience Lausanne through its historic heart — wandering its old town, taking in its graceful lake views, and visiting the magnificent Lausanne Cathedral, a Gothic landmark overlooking the city and one of the great architectural treasures of Switzerland.

We will also take to the water for a scenic boat ride on Lake Geneva, one of the loveliest ways to understand this region. From the lake itself, the shoreline unfolds in layers: elegant towns, terraced vineyards, Belle Époque hotels, distant peaks, and the wide sweep of blue water that has drawn artists, writers, musicians, and travelers for generations.

Our journey continues along the lake toward one of the country’s most beloved historic sites: Chillon Castle. Rising from its rocky island setting at the water’s edge, this 13th-century fortress is among the best-preserved medieval castles in Europe and Switzerland’s most visited historic building. With its stone halls, towers, courtyards, and sweeping views across the lake, Chillon feels as though it belongs equally to history and legend.

The region also holds a fascinating artistic legacy. We will step into the world of cinema at Chaplin’s World, housed on the estate where Charlie Chaplin spent the final 25 years of his life. Then, in Montreux, we will stroll the famed lakeside promenade, where the bronze statue of Freddie Mercury stands against a backdrop of lake and mountains. Long associated with music, creativity, and the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreux brings another layer of glamour and cultural history to this remarkable shoreline.

Lake Geneva offers a softer, more French-inflected view of Switzerland — graceful towns, grand scenery, historic castles, artistic legends, and glittering waters framed by mountains. It is a lovely complement to the German-speaking Alpine world of the Berner Oberland, and a destination entirely worthy of its own place in your travels. We cannot wait to introduce you to this beautiful corner of Switzerland.
